Tabletroms News – Jun 29, 2011

This last week has seen exciting developments for various tablet owners at tabletroms. First off, Notion Ink released a Honeycomb rom, based on the work done by the development team here, as well as incorporating elements of the Beast rom. Non-rooted users can finally access Google Market, and see what the rest of the community has been enjoying with the various HC builds. User Rssid came up with the idea of swapping the Beast kernel into HC16, and it is really a big step forward in regards to speed and stability. Several other roms also were released, including thinkdevoid’s Red Aurora gingerbread, and Borkata’s AdamBigDroid. And MrGuy posted a fix for gps that works on the HC and gingerbread roms.

 

For Advent Vega owners, there is the new VegaComb Beta 1.6, by TeamNewCo and TeamVillian. Users are reporting a significant increase in speed with this rom, as well as several other improvements. Bluetooth and 3G issues seem to be fixed.

 

Asus Transformer users can download the !Prime v1.5 rom, posted by Roach. It includes updated Asus apps, performance tweaks, and a terminal emulator. Also, you get a custom busybox, updated Google Maps, and ad-hoc wifi support.

 

Adventurous Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners can find out how to root their devices. Just head to legaleagll’s posting, and follow his directions. The Viewsonic Gtab can be updated with Linux Box Solution’s Honeycomb kernel. It offers overclocking, USB mass storage support, and improved video playback.
